"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and PROVE ME now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. - Malachi 3:10 (KJV)
We want to encourage you to start tithing, and see God begin blessing your life as you commit to healthy financial stewardship.
How?
We're asking you to commit to take 10% of your total income for the next three months and give it to God through the church.
Who?
Tithing is God's plan for every follower of Christ. However, The Prove Me Campaign is for individuals that have not been tithing in at least the last six months.Tithing is 10% of your income, not just regular or spontaneous giving in the church offering.
When?
You can begin the Prove Me Campaign ANYTIME. Simply sign up in the foyer or online. You will then faithfully tithe 10% of your income, and at the end of three months you have another 30 days to request a full refund.
Why?
The only thing in the Bible that God says to test Him on is tithing. We at Freedom believe in it so strongly that we want to give you the opportunity to take God at His Word. God promises to take care of your financial needs when you trust Him by giving Him the first ten percent.
Then what?
We understand that giving away 10% of your income can be a big - and often frightening - commitment! That's why we created The Prove Me Campaign: a money-back guarantee of sorts. Essentially, it's a contract based on the promises of God in Malachi 3:10. We commit to you that if you tithe for three months and God doesn't hold true to His promises of blessings, we will refund 100% of your tithe. No questions asked.
Here's a short list of questions you might have about The Prove Me Campaign and tithing in general.
The word "tithe" is derived from the Hebrew word ma'aser and it literally means a tenth. Ten percent of everything belongs to the Lord. In Malachi 3:10-11, God says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house." The 'storehouse' is the Old Testament picture of the New Testament church. So as New Testament believers, we worship the Lord with the tithe, or the ten percent.
The tithe is 10% of your income. God says that He has given us all that we own, and that the first 10% is dedicated to Him, and we are to be faithful in "bringing the tithe." Offerings are any generous giving that you do over and above your tithe. And while your tithe is designated for the local church, an offering is for you to be generous wherever you see a need.
Many followers of Christ confuse giving regularly with tithing, and while giving regularly is highly commendable, and it is a big step in and of itself, tithing is taking a full 10% of your paycheck, and giving it to the local church in order to be an important part of building God’s Kingdom.
The first step is for you to sign up online or at the church in the foyer. This just lets us know your intent to participate so that we can keep your finances separate from the church's main funds. It also gives us your agreement to the terms and conditions of The Prove Me Campaign.
Once you are signed up, you need to specify when you give that your money is a part of the challenge. You can do this by consistently writing "The Prove Me Campaign" on your offering envelopes at Freedom for the duration of the timeframe. Make sure you also clearly write your name on the envelope so that The Grove knows where to attribute it.
The last step is to take a full 10% of your income at each paycheck, and either give cash, or write a check to Freedom Worship Assembly and put it in the offering on Sunday morning, or mail it to: Freedom Worship Assembly, 6692 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX 77091.
Yes. You can give safely and securely online by visiting www.fwahouston.org and clicking on the online giving feature on the Homepage. Please be sure to click “The Prove Me Challenge" on the website. You can also give via Cash App $fwahouston. Be sure to designate "Prove Me Challenge".
Freedom Worship Assembly carefully and confidentially tracks each gift in order to provide each giver with an end of the year report on their contributions. However, when you sign up for The Prove Me Challenge, all money that you tithe in that 3-month period will be stored separately from the main church funds, and will remain there for 30 days following the end of the 3-month period.
Tithing carries multiple facets that will benefit your life. First, God commands it and any time we take God at His word we are using faith; and faith can move mountains. God promises to "open up the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing on you". In the book of Matthew, Jesus tells us that if we look after God's Kingdom first, that He will provide for our physical needs.
Also, in this country, when you give to a not-for-profit organization (like Freedom Worship Assembly) you receive a tax benefit. At the end of the year Freedom Worship Assembly will provide you with records of the total amount you have given over the year (for those who use our collection envelopes), and when you file your taxes your charitable donations are tax deductible.
And last, but not least, when you decide to become a percentage giver you create margin in your life. By choosing to live on a lesser percentage of your income, when difficult situations and circumstances arise that margin will carry you through.
Freedom Worship Assembly is 100% supported through your tithes and offerings. The money you give goes toward paying mortgage, utilities, salaries, equipment purchases, etc. The rest is used for ministry such as discipleship training, educating our children, outreach to the lost, missions to the community, benevolence, etc. As we approach each new year and prayerfully develop our budget, we are looking through the eyes of faith into what we believe God wants us, as a church, to accomplish for Him. So, with resources for ministry, we have new avenues of opportunity in order to touch lives and to build His Kingdom.
Yes! This may sound irrational, because getting out of debt should be one of the highest priorities in your financial planning. Yet by obeying God first in your finances, you open the door for God to supernaturally revolutionize your financial situation. And, since getting out of debt is all about discipline, just think of the benefits of developing a financial plan that includes God’s prescribed discipline of faithful giving of the tithe!
